Experience:
Ashley Hoffa is a senior at the University of Iowa pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders with a focus on Audiology, along with a minor in American Sign Language. She is deeply involved in research, specializing in the genetics of tinnitus, tinnitus-related sleep disturbances, speech-in-noise deficits, and Eustachian tube dysfunction. In addition to her academic work, Ashley is actively engaged in several organizations, including the Student Academy of Audiology (SAA), and serves as Iowa’s Student State Officer for the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA).
Ashley joined Woodard Hearing Center as an audiology intern, where she gained hands-on experience in a wide range of audiological tasks, including hearing aid care and maintenance, hearing evaluations and diagnostics, otoscopy, tinnitus management, and conducting hearing and tinnitus evaluations for veterans. Building on the skills she developed at Woodard and through further study, Ashley earned her Hearing Aid Specialist license. Since obtaining her license, she has continued to work at Woodard during her academic breaks.
Fun Facts:
Ashley is an Iowa native from central Des Moines. Outside of academics and work, you will most likely find her baking and perfecting her chocolate chip cookie recipe. She loves being with her family and friends.
